Traditionally window films are designed to have a layer of metal to reflect the sun’s heat, glare and provide privacy. The short and truthful answer is, No. Safety and security films are not bullet-proof, and that is not what they were designed for. These films are designed to make the glass stronger and keep the glass intact in the event that it breaks. There is also a structural caulking bond, or IPA, that goes around the perimeter and secures the film to the window or door frame. Every square inch of the glass is secured with the adhesive from the film making it stronger and more time consuming for intruders to penetrate the film. Safety and Security films can also be used for bomb blast mitigation, weather damage, or smash and grab situations. These films are clear and provide an invisible protection for a clean and seamless look.
